Surrender Part 5 "Are You Ready To Surrender?"
March 09, 2025 | Pastor Charles P. Akins, Sr.
Passage: Hebrews 10:1-10
Intro:
The world is trying to destroy each of us! Now is the time to leave this world’s ways behind us, but we cannot unless we give God the Sovereignty to direct us.
Prop:
We must learn to surrender to God without question.
Body:
Being ready to surrender means your wishes no longer matter to you:
- Have you given up your right to make decisions to Yahuwah?
We started out discussing what is necessary when we surrender.
In reality, there are costs, like in everything, to surrendering one’s will:
- Is there want/desire within you to pay the costs to Surrender?
- Are you prepared/aware, have you assessed the costs to Surrender?
- Are you able/capable of paying the costs to Surrender (Your Pride)?
- Are you willing to pay the costs associated with/necessary to Surrender?
Last week we discussed the “Willingness” to surrender, which engages the personal decision to relent.
This week we shall discuss Are you “Ready” to surrender?
Are you mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually ready to pay the costs to Surrender?
Ready: immediately available for use:
In order to be immediately available for use the first 4 criteria must be met.
Aside from this, being ready is a declaration of preparedness for action!
- When I want/desire to surrender, I have a vested interest in my ability to fully submit!
- Being prepared involves having one’s mind and spirit in-tune.
- Being able means you possess the power/ability to make the righteous decisions.
- Being willing to surrender means having the heart to submit (Humility).
- Being ready means you are in position to take the steps necessary today.
Being “Ready” to surrender means I have completed the final steps necessary to ensure that I can move forward with the new mission!
- I desire to immediately surrender
- I am now prepared to surrender
- I am now able to surrender
- I am now willing to surrender
- I am immediately available to totally surrender
Ready implies there is nothing standing between me and the mission at hand!
All that must be sacrificed to surrender must be counted as nothing!
See Philippians 3:8
“Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,”
“Change from without must be preceded by change from within!”
Humans must first have a change of heart before they have a change of mind, and or in behavior!
Conclusion:
Before one is “Ready” to surrender soul searching and decision making occur.
We must count up the costs and arrive at the conclusion that it is worth the sacrifice!
