February 23, 2025 | Pastor Charles P. Akins, Sr.
Passage: Isaiah 6:1-8
Intro:
When we start to contemplate surrender, we have many things to consider. Among them is the issue of willingness. Willingness is about the decision to move in a certain way or direction.
Prop:
If we wish to receive Salvation it begins with a willingness to Surrender our will!
Body:
Last week we discussed having the ability/power to Surrender. Power or ability to do something relates to one’s ability to overpower someone or something.
As a result, whether it is physical, or mental, you must possess the power to dominate.
Mentally:
- You control your decision-making process on your own.
- You control the way you think about yourself and things.
- You control your ideologies, narratives, and morality.
- You control your way forward and environmental frameworks.
- You control your own success.
Physically:
- You control when and where you go.
- You control who you allow within your sphere of influence.
- You control your inner circle
- You control your exposure to relationships
- You control who touches you, or exists in your personal space.
- You control who you are around and where you live.
This week we will cover the willingness to Surrender!
Willing: cheerfully consenting or ready:
Cheerfully Consenting means to happily, or without grudge or issue, agree with some idea.
Therefore, willing surrender entails happily agreeing to the sovereignty of another, in place of your own will.
Will composes the inward decision to move forward in some manner. Desire.
Being willing to surrender means having the heart to submit (Humility):
- Letting your Pride go enough to surrender to Yahuwah
- Making the decision to Surrender
- Feeling confident about your decision to surrender
- Being confident in the being/organization/group you Surrender to
As a result, the will to surrender means that I am making an internal decision to move forward allowing God Sovereignty over my life.
Willingness, then comes through inward decision to change:
- It indicates the understanding that the past performance was insufficient
- It indicates the inward confidence things shall improve with this change
- I can already see an improvement from my past
- It indicates that I feel a certain amount of safety in trusting this person
- I can see my future improving under this person’s leadership
“Change from without must be preceded by change from within!”
Humans must first have a change of heart before they have a change of mind, and or in behavior!
Conclusion:
Willingness to surrender is an inward decision based upon the confidence in the coming changes.
