"Worship In The Wilderness!"
March 16, 2025 | Pastor Charles P. Akins, Sr.
Passage: Exodus 32:1-10
Intro:
Anyone called to serve God, no matter what the capacity, will have their own “Wilderness Experience”. A time when you are isolated, growing, learning, and being groomed. Have no fear!
Prop:
It is during these ties that we must cling to our God even more! Your progress is in your Praise!
Body:
The Israelites were impatient and stiffnecked/hardheaded people. As such, a trip that should have taken approximately 11 days to 40 yrs.
Why, because they never learned to “Worship In The Wilderness!” They complained instead!
It is impossible for things to always go our way!
All servants/people of God have a Wilderness Experience or two!
If you are going to serve God you must spend time in the “Wilderness”!
- Abraham spent time in the wilderness
- Jacob spent time in the wilderness
- Moses spent time in the wilderness
- Israel spent time in the wilderness
- David spent time in the wilderness
- Elijah spent time in the wilderness
- Yeshua spent time in the wilderness
We must learn to discern and take direction from God.
God tries to warn us that the time for isolate is coming, but we miss His warning.
The Wilderness is necessary for our preparation/elevation:
- We must be isolated so that we hear only from God
- God won’t change the situation he will change your response to it
- Silence will help us examine ourselves (Isolation and silence are different)
- Without interruption we can think clearly and see truthfully
- We must also have silence to hear God clearly and receive direction
- God needs to cleanse us by transforming us
- We learn what needs to change within us in isolation
- We learn who is a bad influence or fit through isolation
- People enter our lives for Seasons, Reasons, and a Lifetime
- They aren’t interchangeable, this causes problems
- People stay too long and damage our calling
- People leave who were key in helping us grow
- People enter relationships with us not meant to be
- Some people are jealous of the God they see in you
- People enter our lives for Seasons, Reasons, and a Lifetime
- We must block out the opinions, thoughts, and beliefs of others
- Sometimes those close to us won’t understand what God is doing
- We can be convinced to move ahead of schedule
- We leave the “Wheel of Preparation” before we are complete
- Jealous people can ruin God’s Plans for us by interjecting wrong ideas
- It is in isolation that God creates the person meant to serve Him
- Isolation lasts longer sometimes because we aren’t obedient (Israel)
- Don’t miss the blessings of your Wilderness Experience
- God needs to cleanse us by transforming us
Once we learn that there is purpose in our isolation we can grow to worship in the Wilderness!
Paul’s first “Wilderness Experience” only took three days because he yielded immediately!
Not every experience can be circumvented by obedience however. Some will take as long as they need to take. Though they will always be longer is we rebel, are slothful, or disobey.
Learn to worship in your wilderness:
- Praise God for His Plan for your life
- The Wilderness lets you know God has something in store for you
- We should be grateful that He desires to use us!
- Praise God because you know you will come out better than before
- There are many ways that you can improve
- Stronger Spiritually, Naturally, Emotionally, perhaps financially
- Praise God because your life is going to improve as well
- Relationships will improve or end if they must
- Your Peace will increase
- Your Wisdom will increase
- You will be a better help to others
- There are many ways that you can improve
Conclusion:
Everyone who is a Child of God will have a wilderness experience at some time.
If we worship instead of complaining, God will do a new thing in our lives that will bless, not only us, but the world around us!
