Passage: Joshua 24:14-21

Text: Jos 24:14-21

Title: “Which Do You Want More?”

Intro:

There comes time in everyone’s life wherein we are called to prioritize. A time when we must choose between things, people, jobs, careers, or family members.

Prop:

We must also choose between Yayah and sin, righteousness and the world.

Body:

                                                            Are You Ready?

This isn’t, or at least it shouldn’t be seen as, an alarming question or thought.

Let’s look at the situation.

Abraham was told to leave his homeland partially because His family served other gods.

Israel, now led by Joshua, was at a pivotal moment ready to solidify themselves as the Children of God in the Promised Land!

As is always the case, they had a choice to make.

  • Follow Yah and His statutes, and live in covenant with Him
  • Follow the worldly sinful way of idolatry and wickedness and be cursed

Isn’t this the Million Dollar question? Who will you serve, God or self?

Yayah was clear about the ramifications of serving Him, or idolatry.

The Holy Spirit spoke through Israel and confessed of Yah’s Goodness:

  • Protection
  • Deliverance
  • Miraculous Works
  • Provision
  • Preservation
  • Favor

All of the above are lost when one reject Yah.

  • Only hurt & destruction comes to those who forsake God’s Love

When faced with situations such as this the question is “Which do you want more?”

What’s more important to you:

  • The instant gratification that surrounds lust and pride?
  • The blessings which come from serving God

Sometimes people are too focused on the sin and instant gratification than they are with healing and becoming stronger.

Lust is going to:

  • Bring instant satisfaction
  • The appearance of fun
  • Feed the lust and desires of a person
  • Destroy your natural and spiritual life

Is it more important to you to enjoy temporary satisfaction?

  • Eventually sin brings death and destruction to our lives
  • There is both a natural and eternal debt we will pay
  • The wages of sin is death

Or would you like to live in the peace which comes from all that God provides?

Despite the lies that many have told, we can’t have it both ways people!

There is a choice to be made! Who will you serve?

Rom 3:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life!”

Two goals:

  1. How can I apply this and commit to be better? (Change of mind)
  2. How can I apply this and commit to do better? (Change in actions)

Conclusion:

Yayah is asking you to change. Are you willing? “Are You Ready?”
