"The Battle For Your Soul"
November 12, 2023 | Pastor Charles P. Akins, Sr.
Passage: Luke 10:18
Intro: There is a great war which has been raging on since Lucifer became Satan, or the Devil! This battle will continue to be fought until the final battle of Armageddon takes place. This war is a “Battle for Your Soul”!
Prop: If we want to win this battle then we must be on the side of the winning team. To be on the winning team we must give our lives to Christ!
Body:
Satan, the Devil, does exist! The greatest trick he has performed is to convince the world that he doesn’t exist.
Satan – 49x
Lucifer – 1x
Devil – 106 (reference for Satan and demons)
Unclean Spirit – 23x (reference for demons)
Gods – 215 (reference for demon worship)
All of this affirms that there is an intense spiritual battle being fought over our souls!
The world, which is operated under the control of Satan, is geared toward your destruction.
“Everything that is good to you, isn’t good for you!”
This battle begins with us, in our own minds. How do I know this?
James 1:12-17
12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
Nothing that is good for you can or will harm you when used appropriately!
Everything that is good for you came from God, and even good things can be used incorrectly (perverted)
Christ, in all his time on earth, never took up physical arms against anyone, even those who slayed him!
However, he fought Spiritual Battles from the moment he was born!
Yahshua knew his enemies right from the start. He knew some of them were active within the Synagogue, as well as the surrounding communities.
Therefore, much of what you read of him shows that he was in a constant “Battle” type mode!
- Communing with the Father and Holy Spirit, and sharing knowledge while healing, delivering, and saving the lost.
- If Christ was always prepared, shouldn’t we be?
Know your enemies:
- Satan and demonic hosts have and are plotting against us.
Ephesians 6:11-12
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
2 Corinthians 10:3-5
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
What do we know about our enemies:
- They have a distinct advantage against us without God.
- They are invisible to the naked eye. (Eph 6:12)
- They are ancient. (Gen 3:1)
- They have more knowledge than a normal human.
- They know more about God.
- They know more about humans.
- They have more knowledge than a normal human.
- They know more about the world.
- They know more about sin.
- They have been wicked for a long time.
- There is no good within them, period.
- They are rotten to their core.
- They hate everything about us and themselves.
- They have power but are not all-powerful.
- They travel faster than the speed of light. (See II Kings 19:35, 185,000 killed)
- They are mostly subtitle in their attacks to keep you off guard.
- Lust of the eyes, Lust of the Flesh, Pride of Life (See 1 John 2:16)
- They use our sin against us by enticing us with what we like.
- They don’t want to scare you; they want to trick you.
- Julius Ceasar, should subjects fear or love you?
- Fear only works within proximity and threat of violence.
- Love knows no bounds in distance or time.
- Julius Ceasar, should subjects fear or love you?
- The world says love is letting you do whatever you want.
- The moment we receive the Holy Spirit they are under our Dominion.
- Luke 10:19-20
- They study human behavior and interaction constantly (See Job 1:10-11)
- They attack the mind first (See 1 Sam 16:22-23)
**Saints of God have Dominion over these enemies, and the enemies know it.
Luke 10:18-20
18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
Conclusion:
The enemy may have power and insight, but we have the greater power and dominion.
The battle has already been decided in your favor, you just have to walk in faith!
Who is willing to walk by Faith and not by sight?
