"Protected During The Storms!"
June 22, 2025 | Pastor Charles P. Akins, Sr.
Passage: Matthew 8:24-27
Intro:
Most people enter into storms focused on what they see, rather than focusing on who they know! Storms can become distractions from the solutions we require to weather them in faith.
Prop:
The only way to truly weather storms and make the most out of them is by trusting in God, and drawing nearer to Yeshua in times of trouble.
Body:
Are You Ready?
People place entirely too much attention on their circumstances, and not enough on the one that can deliver them!
The world teaches us to focus on the problem rather than the solution!
In the text today the Disciples never stopped to realize:
- They were safe
- They showed their fear and lack of faith
- They were with Yeshua
- They didn’t know He was their Spiritual Messiah)
In the midst of storms, you will:
- Hear, see, and sometimes feel the rain fall upon you
- Hear, see, and feel the wind blowing
- See the damage the storm causes around you
- Be bombarded with carnal thoughts/fears
In the midst of our storms, we are often being:
- Groomed
- Protected
- Prepared to serve
- Tested – being shown your strengths and weaknesses
In the midst of storms, we must:
- First look for signs of God/Yeshua in the storm
- Run to the Lord Yeshua
- We must never let go Yeshua’s Hand
- Bask in the presence of God
- Follow directions - do whatever God is doing or calling us to do
Job faced his metaphorical storm:
- His boat had been destroyed, but Job sought God
- He was floating on a piece of Birch Wood, but he trusted God
- He was lost at sea, but said “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him!”
- Biblical Foundation: Never give up your faith, God is your deliverer.
- Lesson Aim: That you will learn to focus on Yeshua and not your struggles.
- Life Application: When I face trials, I will let them draw me nearer to Yah.
Two goals:
- How can I apply this and commit to be better? (Change of mind)
- How can I apply this and commit to do better? (Change in actions)
Conclusion:
Yayah never stopped protecting you? “Are You Ready to trust Him?”
