"Protect Your Salt"

January 19, 2025 | Pastor Charles P. Akins, Sr.

Passage: Matthew 5:13-14

Intro:

Salt can be used for many different purposes, two of which are seasoning and safety. Old salt loses it flavor and power, or ability to melt ice and snow. People who fail to remain close to Yah lose their power/efficacy and ability to witness.

Prop:

Therefore, if we wish to continue to glorify Yah then we must remain connected to Him through prayer, fasting, study, meditation, and worship.

Body:

Biblically salt had many properties: The Covenant of Salt Num 18:19, II Chron 13:5

  1. Healing
    1. If we remain filled, we can bring healing miracles into other lives
    2. We may ask what we will in faith and receive it
  2. Spiritual Power Warfare/Break Curses (weapon) II King 2:19-22
    1. As the Salt of the Earth, we are Yah’s weapons against evil
  3. Preservation (Preventing decay/corruption)
    1. We must preserve Purity in the Earth as Yah preserves us
    2. Save the world from spiritual and moral decay
  4. Symbol of Spiritual Purity/incorruptible (Holiness/unbroken connection) Matt 5:13
    1. Preservers of holiness
  5. Power in Prayer Lev 2:13 (Yah said all Offerings seasoned w/ salt)
    1. Invoking the Covenant of Salt with Yah
    2. We must remain seasoned with holiness as His sacrifices

During this winter season we can highlight important uses of salt such as in safety and survival!

Salt must be laid down prior to snowfall for its highest efficacy!

Salt laid down during the snow fall isn’t as effective, and is more hazardous.

As the snow continues to fall this winter you must ask:

  1. Do I have any salt?
  2. Do I have enough salt?
  3. Is my salt still fresh and useful?

In the continual Spiritual Battle, we face we must ask the same questions:

  1. Do I have any salt?
    1. Holiness is the Salt you need to strengthen you to fight
    2. Without salt you can’t defend yourself nor help others!
  2. Do I have enough salt?
    1. If you are abundantly filled you have Salt to spare.
    2. If your supply is low, you may only have enough for one application.
    3. If you don’t have Salt to spare you cannot help others.
  3. Is my salt still fresh and useful?
    1. The Salt must be a fresh anointing or it won’t do the job.
    2. Old Salt cannot melt the hearts of the unholy!
    3. We need a fresh anointing to meet the spiritual challenges of today.
    4. Are you continuing to seek the face and guidance of Yah?

Yeshua warned us in Matt 6 to seek first the Kingdom of Heaven and Yah’s righteousness because only then are we constantly renewed in the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 4:16

16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

Luke 18:1

And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought alwayto pray, and not to faint;

Many scriptures in the Word remind us that we must remain connected to the source:

  • Our hope, strength, peace, joy, love, and faith
  • If you expect or are determined to win quitting isn’t an option
