"Free Your Mind!"

Passage: 2 Corinthians 4:1-5

Introduction:

I talk often about people being able to recognize their own issues. One of the reasons this doesn’t occur is explained within the above scripture in Corinthians 4. Satan does a great job of using pride and other tools to blind people.

Proposition:

We need the Holy Spirit’s guidance and comfort to open our minds. We need humility to see when this is the case.

Body:

Every attack that the enemy wages against us is with the purpose of distracting, fooling, and ultimately destroying us.

If one were to analyze this statement you should be compelled to look, bit by bit, into every facet of the enemy’s tactics to see if I am accurate.

If he is not trying to make you believe something you are doing isn’t wrong, then he is trying to convince you that what you’re doing will benefit you in the end. Jesus reminded us in John 10:10, that every aspect of the enemy’s attack is focused on your destruction.

John 10:10

10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

So, what are some methods of attack:

  • Emotional Attacks (most effective being those closest to us)
    • Verbal abuse
      • Family, friends, neighbors, classmates, colleagues
    • Physical abuse
      • See above list of culprits
    • Mental abuse (Mind games)
      • See above list of culprits
      • Control, manipulation, betrayal
        • Teases (leading people on)
        • Coercion (using position/relationship to influence)
        • Bribery
        • Threats
      • Physical Attacks
        • Giving things that you cannot handle (money, drugs, fame)
        • Taking things
        • Illnesses
        • Accidents, or danger
      • Demonic Attacks
        • Self-control
        • Self-esteem
        • Generational Curses
        • Strongholds

The Dark Kingdom oftentimes uses those closest to us to inflict the deepest wounds, or those we are least like to recover from soon, if at all.

For a child, it takes one poorly placed sentence, declaration upon their life, or word, and we can, set back if not, ruin our people’s lives.

There is no scenario where Satan and the Dark Kingdom is doing something with your best interests at heart!

As a result, you can see how the enemy can use pride, fear, doubt, wrath, and insecurity to shield us from the truth of what our life and situation are.

The resulting tailspin leaves most people searching for a band aide solution, rather than a method of ending the attack. Sadly, most don’t realize that they are under attack at all! They point the finger at the people being used, but never get to the deeper portion of their circumstances. They are under attack.

While God is our deliverer, he requires our full agreeance. God will not interfere in the life of a person. It is our choice to come to God, or to ignore him ad go it alone. As such, you must desire for God to free your mind. Not only that, but you must also actively move yourself out of the equation by trusting God to do it.

A true illustration of this trust is shown when you cease to worry or fear.

How do we identify if our mind is bound, or “Blinded”?

The first thing we look for is where pride is working within us. Since the very beginning of time Satan has used “Pride” against Mankind. Th very same issue that was is downfall! Sadly, pride is at the root of most, if not all sin! A simple lack of humility has ruined marriages, damaged or cursed children, killed people, and finally, destroyed the world in which we live!

  1. Pride
    1. All prideful people are delusional about their failures
    2. Zero accountability. It’s not me, it’s you!
    3. Don’t tell me what to do, I do what I want to do
    4. I know better than you, I am smarter
      1. I have more degrees
      2. I went to Harvard
    5. You are less than me
      1. I have more money
      2. I come from a wealthy, influential family
  • I know more influential people
  1. I look better
  2. I am built better
  3. I dress better
  1. Don’t see the danger in the direction they have taken
    1. You are putting yourself and others in danger
      1. There is nothing wrong with what I am doing
      2. I am just having fun. I am just living my life.
    2. Fear
      1. Filled with worry about the outcome of situations
      2. Not able to act due to fear of failure/defeat
      3. Afraid that people will judge me
      4. Afraid that people won’t agree with me
    3. Doubt
      1. No trust that God will deliver, provide, or protect me
      2. No trust that God will fill my requests
        1. I am not important enough
        2. I am not worthy
      3. Wrath
        1. Explosive Anger clouds your ability to react sensibly
        2. Blind rage prevents you from seeing the truth
        3. Rage is the enemy of rational thought
      4. Lazy
        1. Its too much work to live Holy (That’s doin too much!)
        2. It just doesn’t take all of that
        3. I don’t want to go through all of that

You, we are constantly under attack from birth! There are generational curses, strongholds, and other sorts of demonic attacks awaiting each of us in this life.

We lose the battles because we remain unaware of our enemy, their position, and methods/strategies.

Awareness begins with the Word of God! In the Bible Satan’s plots are illustrated in great detail, if we care to read carefully.

God’s Spirit can and will free your mind if you choose!

Conclusion:

Jesus says in the last portion of John 10:10, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly!”

If one desires to be free, we must come to God as humble as we know how. We then seek God for direction on becoming humbler.

We must renounce the narratives, methods, perspectives, and ways of this world, or we will surely die!

The world seeks to distract you with the scenery in front of you while the world around you burns!

But Jesus paid it all, so you didn’t have to burn with it! Won’t you come!
