"Expecting After Asking!"

June 23, 2024 | Pastor Charles P. Akins, Sr.

Passage: Hebrews 11:6

Introduction:

Most people only ask for things that they believe they have a shot at receiving. In fact, very few people are of the school of thought “It won’t hurt to ask!” We know this to be true because thoughts such as “The only stupid question is the one you didn’t ask!” are taught to encourage asking! These two things are related.

Proposal:

The squeaky wheel gets the oil reminds us to open our mouths! God expects confidence when you pray to Him. He doesn’t respond to disbelief. So, if you have a desire from God be sure you believe!

Body:

Ever ask for something without expecting the person to say yes?

A shot in the dark, if you will!

Well, many prayers are prayed with this same sentiment.

In fact, I would wager, were I a betting man, that most prayers are prayed in this way.

Faith must precede every request, or there is no point in asking.

Matthew 17:20 (The Disciples couldn’t cast the devil out)

And he saith unto them, Because of your little faith: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Luke 17:6 (Faith entails no doubt)

And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye would say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou rooted up, and be thou planted in the sea; and it would obey you.

Matthew 8:10 (Faith that recognizes God’s Providence)

And when Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. (Centurion)

Matthew 21:21 (There is no room for doubt when believing God)

And Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do what is done to the fig tree, but even if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou taken up and cast into the sea, it shall be done.

John 14:12 (Faith in the Promises of God)

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto the Father.

Matthew 19:26 (Faith which understands the Power of God over men)

And Jesus looking upon them said to them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Mark 11:24 (Faith is trusting that it shall be done before making the request)

24 Therefore I say unto you, All things whatsoever ye pray and ask for, believe that ye [a]receive them, and ye shall have them.

Mark 9:23 (We must get out our way and, out of the way of God’s Works)

And Jesus said unto him, If thou canst! All things are possible to him that believeth.

Matthew 13:57-58

57 And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.

58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

If you’re going to pray, then don’t worry or doubt. If you’re going to worry or doubt, then stop praying!

God is aware of your faith level, as well as whether or not you believe.

Many prayers remain unanswered due to lack of faith.

When Yashua said, “Oh ye of little faith”, he was saying they didn’t believe.

  • Little Faith – trust God can do it but lack faith that he will do it for you.
  • No faith – don’t trust that God can/will do it
    • You must believe the Word and promises of God
    • The disciples had no faith, they weren’t even sure Yahshua was the Christ yet.
    • You must first believe in Christ, and then in the power of His Promise.

Conclusion:

We offend Yah greatly when we do ont trust in Him.

If you are going to pray, then stopm worrying.

If you are going to worry, then stop praying.

God knows your level of faith, level up and believe God!
