"Everyone Can Spare Some Change"

Passage: 1 Thessalonians 1:6-7

We are human beings, and as such given to failure, falsehoods, and imperfections.

Yet, II Cor. 5:17 tells us that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

Gal. 2:20-21 tells us that we should be crucified with Christ and allow Christ to regenerate us through the Holy Spirit. In order for this to happen we must make a concerted effort to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God!

Following in the same ideologies are Gal 2 and Rom 12, which remind us that the basics of Salvation calls for the sacrifice of our body and ways, thoughts, and deeds, and allowing the Holy Spirit to what? Change us!!!!

Therefore, if you want eternal life then you must allow God to:

  • Change your way of thinking
  • Change your behavior
  • Change the company you keep
  • Change your focus

Now I know that some of us aren’t that bad!

  • I really don’t do anything bad.
  • I mean, I don’t curse people out,
  • I don't use foul language,
  • I don't backstab my family or friends
  • I don't even sleep around!
  1. Is that man/woman that you are sleeping with your spouse?
  2. Do you talk about people rather than praying with, or for them?
  3. Do you trust God and follow his Word, or do you simply make things up as you see fit, as you go along?

So what exactly is Loose/Spare change? It is change or money in excess of what one needs. Therefore, it is in addition to what one needs, or extra!

Spare Change is “Room” or “Opportunity” for a change!

Everyone has room for some change in their lives!

Rom 3:23 says, “for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

I Peter 4:18 says, “And if the righteous shall scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear!”

God’s grace and mercy shall save those who attempt to live a righteous life! Our righteousness will not be enough, but the commitment to obey the Word of God will cause God to cover our faults with his grace and mercy.

See Isaiah 64:6 which says, “but we are all as unclean things, our righteousnesses are as filthy rags”

We will never be in a position to not require change.

  1. We are saved,
  2. We are being saved
  3. We shall be saved!

Until we die we shall be on a journey to cleanse our souls and lives of sin.

On this journey, we take Jesus as our Lord, and His Holy Spirit shall guide us in all truth concerning ourselves, and others!

The Word of God is meant to help be a light unto our path leading us in the direction of righteousness according to God! As we honor God’s Word we transform into the beings God desires for us to be, leaving behind the thoughts, appetites, behaviors, and actions of this Dark World.

Will you humble yourself under the hand of God and allow Him to change you?

Or, like so many others, do you believe that you are fine as you are, that there is nothing wrong with you?
